The project, funded jointly by the county government and a World Bank grant, aims to cut travel times for public transport users by up to 40 percent during peak hours.<br><br>The corridor features exclusive lanes for high-capacity buses, new shelters equipped with solar lighting, and real-time digital display boards showing arrival information. County Governor Johnson Sakaja said the initiative forms part of a broader plan to reduce private car use and improve air quality in the capital.<br><br>Commuters who tested the route this morning reported smoother journeys and fewer delays caused by matatus weaving between lanes. Traffic police have been deployed to enforce the new rules, with fines already issued to several vehicles found using the restricted lanes.<br><br>Environmental groups welcomed the move but urged authorities to expand the network to other major routes such as Thika Road and Ngong Road before the end of the year.
