IMF AND WORLD BANK CHANGE DEBT RULES FOR AFRICAN ECONOMIES

The International Monetary Fund and World Bank have introduced changes to the framework used to assess debt sustainability in developing economies. The changes are aimed at improving how countries’ debt situations are assessed and supporting better decisions on lending and economic reforms.
The revised approach comes as many African economies continue to face pressure from high debt levels, rising financing costs and economic shocks.
